I’ve appreciated both ‘Boyfriend’ articles (April and May ENs). Each has helpfully challenged current cultural thinking with biblical truth. There is, however, another important aspect which also needs consideration. ‘Boyfriend’ is becoming more and more synonymous with ‘somebody with whom I have intimate (sexual) relations, but who has not yet become my partner’. If we are to continue to use the term, we need to be aware of how our young people will understand it.
