The disruption to the NHS by computer hackers should be a warning to us all about our over-reliance on computer systems.
Think of the havoc it could cause if the banking system or government departments were hacked. This fiasco should put an end to the calls of some enthusiasts who want a ‘cash-less society.’ We would then all be so helpless that we wouldn’t even be able to buy a loaf of bread or a newspaper if the computer systems went down. The late New Zealand Christian evangelist Barry Smith used to warn about the cashless society and the dangers it would bring.
