Along with Colin Hamer (Letters, September 2019) I also appreciated Stuart Burgess’s article on the human hand. Almost immediately after reading it I was listening to CD Review on BBC Radio 3 and someone was referring to various works by Prokofiev. One extract played was from his Third Piano Concerto played by Martha Argerich. The amazing dexterity and accuracy of her playing of this particularly demanding piece was breathtaking and fully bore out what Stuart had written about – ‘Highly trained musicians can play over ten notes per second with great accuracy and feeling.’
