Dear Editor,

Some argue that the ‘facts’ about our ecological crisis are far from incontrovertible but surely there must be some risk, however small.

If it does come, then the damage will be devastating and especially impact the poor and disadvantaged. As a matter of justice and love we should all do what we can to stop it.

It is like insurance where we will insure even if the potential for damage is unlikely but could be severe. I would not drive without insurance for, while I could replace a car, if I injured someone else and they needed expensive long-term care it would be beyond me. So, I insure even if it seems expensive.

Similarly we should all act to prevent the huge challenges of global warming which others could face as a result of our history and life style.

Yours sincerely
