I am writing in response to the email from Stuart Phillips in the February edition of en.
It was good to see the issue of porn addiction being highlighted in December’s for couples affected by en. Counselling porn use requires an approach of individual therapy focusing on recovery for the addict and on processing the traumatic impact for the partner.
Readers may be interested to know of the growing number of Christians who are providing help to people who struggle in this area and to their partners. I would commend the excellent work of the Laurel Centre who provide training for counsellors and run a recovery course tailored specifically for the needs of Christians, including those in church leadership.
Christian counsellors can be found by searching the directory for the Association of Christian Counsellors, and suitably trained counsellors will also be registered with COSRT (College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists) or ATSAC (the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity).
