While in Cheriton, Folkestone I popped into the Public Library and asked for a Bible.
The librarian told me that only two public libraries in Kent had Bibles (and they are in the reference sections). There and then I wrote a note to the acquisition department how strange I found it that the most-read and translated book in the world and the most influential writing in the English language was not on the shelves.
