Dear Editor,
Many thanks for your monthly journal. Very interesting and encouraging reading. My favourite author is Michael Haykin. He makes history come alive !
Just a wee comment about Nicola Laver’s article ‘Landmark win for medic’ (en July, page 2). Having lived in France for the last 43 years – I am Scottish – I did not understand the following abbreviations that she mentioned : DWP and GMC. I thought perhaps ‘Don’t Wake the Pastor’ and ‘God’s Marvellous Compassion’, but I must be wrong !
I admit to having had a wee smile on reading Steve Midgley exhorting en readers to ‘not merely listen to the WORLD’ but to ‘do as it says’ … Perhaps an ‘L’ misplaced ?
Keep up the great ministry that the Lord has entrusted you.
God bless and lead you all at en.
Yours sincerely,
David Sutherland By email
DWP is the Department for Work and Pensions and GMC is the General Medical Council. We do try and ensure that we explain all acronyms but obviously on this occasion despite multiple pairs of eyes checking things through we slipped up! But thank you also for your encouragement. - Ed.
