Dear Editor,

The article about caring for people with dementia brought back memories for me. Being asked by my mother “Do I have any children?” was a bit confusing, but I could answer it. “When is my mother coming to collect me?” I found more difficult.

Two ladies in our church were a great help. They came every Wednesday afternoon to visit her. For us this bit of free time made a big difference.

There are few things we do in life as important as looking after each other. Church should be a place where we can extend a hand to one another.

Yours sincerely, R.S. Davies Constancia, Portugal
