Dear Editor,
I am writing to thank you for the very timely article in May’s en by Ian Hamilton. The repeated phrase that struck me as I read it was “Behold the mystery of iniquity”.
Reading The Valley of Vision (a collection of Puritan Prayers and Devotions), it would seem the dangers of sin and the vulnerability of our hearts was something very familiar to the Puritans. Yet today we are taken by surprise.
We should remember the words of the writer to Hebrews: “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness” (Heb. 3v12-13)
Yours sincerely,
Joan Palframan
