Remembering David Winter

David Winter – former head of religious broadcasting at the BBC, writer, and parish minister – has died at age 96.

Born in North London, Winter became a Christian while reading English at King’s College. After beginning his career as a teacher, he later entered the field of journalism and became editor of Crusade, the well-known evangelical magazine of its time.

Winter wrote more than 50 books. In 1971, he took a role at the BBC as editor of the Sunday radio programme and later became head of religious broadcasting.
