Sue Smith is part of the Care For The Family network and has written this practical book on parenting.
Peppered with anecdotes and Scriptural references, it is written honestly about many of the emotional and practical issues parents struggle with.
The author has prescriptive advice to offer on a wide range of subjects from preparation for parenthood ('lay hand on the bump and pray aloud for the baby') to dealing with faddy eating. The author has to be congratulated for daring to tackle the emotive subject of parenting children with special needs. I was sorry to read the cliches she uses which do reflect the limited research she admits she has done on this aspect of parenting. We such parents don't need 'admiration', we need understanding! Overall, this book is a gentle introduction to parenting which would give prospective parents an overview of what is ahead and things to think about along the way.
