GEORGE WHITEFIELD'S WORKS

CD-ROM

Quinta Press. £60 (including VAT and postage)

There have been so many 'complete works' of Christian worthies of the past published in book form that some of us have had trouble fitting the volumes on to our shelves.

The advent of the CD-ROM could be the answer. Quinta Press have published the works of the great 18th-century Calvinist George Whitefield, renowned for his evangelistic labours and revival experiences both in Britain and in the United States. They are facsimile and reset editions and very readable on the computer screen.

His letters and journals make up quite a lot of his works, but there are many sermons too, for which access had previously been fairly difficult. The CD also contains a number of older biographies of White-field, though not the excellent two-volume work written 30 years ago by Arnold Dallimore. There is a file of modern photo-graphs, too, of some of the places associated with Whitefield. All of the reset files are indexed to allow for fast and thorough searching.

For lovers of church history and the powerful preaching of Christ there are hours of delight on this compact disk.

The CD is available from Quinta Press, Meadow View, Weston Rhyn, Oswestry, Shropshire, SY10 7RN (01691 778659).
