The claim is made on the front cover of this booklet that it is 'essential reading for everyone wanting to handle money wisely'.
The first few pages look at the pressure on us to spend from advertising, from our children and to meet our emotional needs. It then suggests a number of difficulties money worries can lead to - child abuse, poor health, loss of friends and depression, leading to the dangerous habit of borrowing money. Most of the booklet contains lots of practical advice about budgeting, saving, using credit, benefits, work and money-saving ideas. The booklet emphasises the importance of recognising money problems and looking for advice and support. It is well written, full of practical advice and not too long.
The booklet lives up to its front cover claim and if you have difficulty handling money, are newly married or counselling, you will find it very helpful. There are also a number of other resources available from Credit Action, including a Bible study course entitled 'Your money and your life'.
