The author is pastor of a Pentecostal/ charismatic church which has grown from 100 to 1,000 people in five years. The aim of the book is to challenge and assist churches and individuals to see the importance of evangelism and how to become more effective evangelistically. With this in mind, each chapter ends with discussion material, Bible readings and an action plan which can be used alone or in a group.
The book starts with a helpful chapter which argues that, although all Christians are called to share their faith, there are different ways of doing this, including friendship evangelism, intellectual evangelism, testimony-giving evangelism, invitational evangelism and Dorcas evangelism. This can come as a huge relief to those who see 'confrontational evangelism' as the only option. Instead the idea of wholehearted commitment to evangelism as a lifestyle is advocated.
The author writes of his own experiences and covers subjects such as using your home, bringing the gospel to people of other religions, how to be a welcoming church and how to be creative in evangelism.
