David Pawson is always an interesting speaker, and these messages concerning the film The Passion of the Christ are no exception. He went to a preview of the film in Southampton, and has pursued quite a lot of background research.

The first tape addresses the criticisms that have been made of the film, that it is anti-Semitic, too violent and extremely Roman Catholic. He certainly concurs with the last, and fills in some of the background of Sister Anne Catherine Emmerich, by whose visions the film is mainly inspired. He does not deal with the question of whether or not it is right to make films of Jesus in the light of the second commandment.

The second tape looks at the questions of what gospel content there is in the film, whether there is a true communication of the gospel, and also, from Scripture, what the mind of Christ is about the film. As ever, you will probably not agree with everything Mr. Pawson says, but the listener will be given much food for thought.
