HELP! I Am Facing A Trial is the latest in the series. It is written by Dr Jim Winter, who has wide pastoral experience, and is also the consulting editor for the series. This booklet complements many of the others in the series – themes which most of us would have to describe as deeply challenging ‘trials’. In this way it has more general applications, appropriately, than some of the other series titles.
Who does not need help when we face trials? The booklet begins helpfully by asking the sort of questions many of us ask, such as ‘where is God in all this?’. The rest of the booklet seeks to answer these immensely troubling questions. It does this by using Scripture to develop helpful themes such as: Trials and our relationship with God; Trials and Christian character; and Victory through Trials. The final chapter is a concise, brief and clear summary. Dr Winter finishes by quoting Isaiah 43:1-4 which begins with God’s comforting words, ‘Fear not …’.
