My eldest daughter (eight) said: ‘It’s a good book. I like the way it has a warning about the snake in the story of Adam and Eve. I also liked that it had more than 100 facts that are all so interesting. I really like the way that the writer of this book has such a lot of information about all the animals in the Bible.’
My younger daughter (seven) also said that she liked the way that the book is so full of fun facts. She also liked the way that the book talks about animals that are in the Bible, and really enjoyed all the pictures and Bible verses. Her favourite page was the one on dogs because it has a picture like her cousins’ dog, a dachshund!

The book does not ignore the challenges within stories about the big fish in the book of Jonah and the communicating snake in Genesis 3. The comments on both of these challenging stories leaves room for a variety of readings of what might or might not have happened. Helpfully the author prompts us to leave open the possibility that the God who created everything could create a sea creature suitable for accommodating a runaway prophet.
