For
those who have ever
struggled
to
remember a specific Scripture verse, the
Not Just Words app is a game changer.
Instead of searching for exact phrasing (like
most Bible apps), it intelligently searches
for multiple variations of the words – so
“pray” shows results for “prays”, “praying”,
“prayer”, and it incorporates a built-in thesaurus: so “speak” also shows “talk”, “uttered”, and more.
It goes beyond keyword searching, you can search for specific references (“Rom. 1v4”), mix searches (“forgive in New Testament”), and search for conjunctions, AND, OR, NOT, NEAR. The availability of Bible versions is extensive: ESV, KJV, NIV, AMP, Darby, Japanese and Chinese language versions, to name a few. In 2024, they introduced a parallel pane feature enabling side-by-side viewing of multiple versions of search results.
