Many people call RightNow Media the “Netflix of Christian content”, and although the metaphor only partly applies, it does rightly reflect its scale and usefulness.
At its best, RightNow Media is a great resource for local churches through which an almost limitless library of Bible-focused teaching is made available to ordinary believers. Not only can one find book-by-book Scripture studies at RightNow Media, but also various resources on discipleship, leadership, marriage, parenting and evangelism. The sheer extent of the content is quite staggering.
I think what I find most striking is its high level of accessibility. If you are running a small group, needing a Bible study for your quiet time, or trying to find some mid-week resources for families and kids, RightNow Media will not only supply you with sound evangelical teaching, but will do so in a way that makes the sharing and follow-up of the materials really easy. RightNow Media aims to challenge believers to read, study, and meditate on God’s word on days other than Sunday, and help churches to produce disciples who live out their faith in everyday life.
Just like with any other huge platform, not all things will be equally good, and hence one should exercise wisdom in selecting recommendations or choosing what to watch. The app itself can at times be a bit of a hassle, but such minor annoyances hardly outweigh the treasure of Christ-centered teaching one can get from the site.
If used wisely, RightNow Media can become a very effective instrument by which churches can disciple their people in the faith, build gospel foundations, and foster a deeper love for the word of God in their congregations.
