Over 70 people gathered at The Hayes Conference Centre in Derbyshire for a weekend of prayer for Muslims, 10-12 June.
Longstanding members of the Fellowship of Faith for the Muslims (FFM) mingled with representatives of various mission organisations – some of whom were serving missionaries visiting the UK: a couple from South India serving with Tribals Transformation India; an Indian Manipuri family with three children serving with SIM in Bangladesh; and a couple from Basel serving in France. There were several believers who had turned to Christ from a Muslim background, including an Iranian family who were present with their two children, having fled persecution in Iran.
Londonistan?
Speakers included Imtiaz Khan who serves with the London City Mission and runs Muslim Engagement Training courses to equip Christians; and Sam Soloman, Executive Director of FFM and a founder of Christian Concern (UK). Imtiaz gave a talk on the subject: ‘Londonistan: Can Muslims be Saved in London?’, while Sam’s subject was: ‘Londonistan: Can London be Saved from Radical Islam?’ Both addresses were informative and thought-provoking.
The main guest speaker was the Revd Yassir Eric, Professor for Islamic Studies at the European School for Culture and Theology, and Director of the Europe Institute of Migration, Integration and Islamic Studies in Korntal, Germany. Born and raised in a strictly Islamic family in Sudan, Yassir was converted to Christ at the age of 19. With great compassion he shared stories of persecuted believers known to him. But his own testimony was deeply inspiring. Having become a violent radical, his life was transformed by the gospel of Christ, more than 20 years ago.
