Celebration as church marks first birthday

First birthdays are special, and for an Essex ‘church in the home’ – its first birthday marked an encouraging year despite the pandemic.

Cornerstone Church in Colchester, an Anglican church, began on 18 October 2020 under the oversight of Anglican Mission in England (AMiE). It has coined the phrase ‘… starting in the home, sustained in the home!’ to reflect the church’s conviction of the value of meeting in the home.

The pastor, John Parker, said that during its first year people moved into the area who ‘want to be part of something new, Biblically faithful on ethical issues, and Anglican’.

He says they have ‘a deepening conviction, from God’s word, of the value of meeting in the home to deepen loving relationships and build an attractive community to those who are outside the kingdom.’

Parker added: ‘Under God we desire our discipleship, our church membership and our leadership to be godly in friendship, marriage and family, such that those who have contact with us see something of the life of Jesus Christ and hear Him through the preaching of His word – both in person and online’.

The church is looking to work with other churches and organisations that believe Jesus is the ‘cornerstone’. For more information visit cornerstonecolchester.co.uk
