Stars and stripes at Bible by the Beach

Vanessa Redhouse writes: A sunny weekend in Eastbourne coupled with vibrant Bible-teaching, inspiring children’s and youth work, a selection of ‘where-the-rubber-hits-the-road’ seminars, rousing music from All Souls Orchestra, a packed bookshop and relevant and friendly exhibitors… it doesn’t get much better than this!

More than 1,250 people, including 350 children and teenagers, attended Bible by the Beach 2022 over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The Congress Theatre and Conferencing facilities offered a fabulous venue just a few minutes’ walk from the beach (passing fish and chip shops and ice cream parlours) and delegates were able to book accommodation from the vast array of B&Bs, guesthouses and hotels in the area – some even camped!

The theme of the weekend was ‘Devoted to Jesus from the inside out’ and the four Bible readings delivered by Christopher Ash from Psalms were hugely appreciated with delegates reporting that ‘he brought the psalms to life and I was engrossed in his teaching’ and ‘he opened the psalms in a very thoughtful and helpful way’.

Seminars were also tied into this theme with speakers including Helen Thorne, Linda Allcock, Graham Beynon, John Stevens, Ed Drew, Simon Vibert and Peter Wright (Growing Young Disciples) delivering seminars on subjects ranging from ‘Facing and resisting temptation’ to ‘Following Jesus through anxiety and depression’ to ‘Raising the next generation from the inside out’.
