An interesting turn of events during a salon appointment, reported in May, led to the growth of more than just hair.
Mojdeh and Sepideh were very close friends throughout high school. But when both girls left school and got married 15 years ago, with no internet and no mobile phones available, they sadly lost contact. Mojdeh always wished they had managed to stay in touch.
Picking up a leaflet
One day Mojdeh saw a leaflet for a hair salon as she walked down a street in her hometown. She picked it up, and decided to make an appointment; she had been looking for a good salon in the area. When Mojdeh turned up for her appointment she got a huge surprise: the salon owner was none other than her old friend Sepideh! But an even bigger surprise was waiting for her. As they talked, Mojdeh discovered that Sepideh had become a Christian. As the two ladies rekindled their friendship, Sepideh shared about her new faith in Jesus, and gave Mojdeh a Bible to read. Over time, Mojdeh’s heart softened and Sepideh had the joy of leading her to Christ.
Attending the local church
Together Mojdeh and Sepideh began attending the only local church they knew about, an Armenian Orthodox church. They could not understand the services, conducted in the Armenian language, but they loved being in a place where Jesus was honoured. It was not long after Mojdeh became a Christian that she also saw her husband trust in the Lord.
The one frustration for Mojdeh was that the Armenian Church could not allow her to receive any ministry training.
A few years later
But now, a few years later, this couple is enrolled on one of Elam’s ministry training programs in the Iran region. In the Lord’s providence, they are learning together how to pastor a church and reach others for Christ, just as Sepideh bravely reached out to Mojdeh.
