Ganesh is one of four brothers whose father went missing during the civil war.
At 18 he tried to rape a girl at night, but she shouted out and the Thampalagamman villagers stopped him. After a cultural solution to the situation, both he and the girl agreed to marry. But he ran away after two days to join terrorists because he wanted to be trained how to kill the person involved in the arranging of the marriage.
Could not cope
However, the training was so hard he could not cope. He could not return to his village and so went to Colombo where eventually he developed mental problems.
