Revelation boosts Reformed in Rome

A preaching workshop being held in the Italian capital is expanding rapidly.

‘Workshop Predicazione’ looks set to double the numbers attending in 2022.

This year’s event, which will take place at Salvation Army premises in Rome from 24–27 August, already has over 50 evangelical pastors and preachers booked in, compared with just 32 in 2021.

The workshop is the brainchild of: Mark Oden, who pastors Chiesa Evangelica Neapolis, a church in central Naples and was formerly at St Nicholas, Sevenoaks; Andy Hamilton of Ibei Theological College (Istituto Biblico Evangelico Italiano), who also leads a church in Rome; and Chris Brown, an elder of a church in Bologna. Both Oden and Brown are Crosslinks mission partners.

The conference comprises two streams. The first, ‘Preach the Word’, is for new attendees and teaches the basics of expository Biblical teaching. The second, for those who have been before, concentrates on a particular type of Biblical literature. This year the focus will be on the apocalyptic writings, Revelation in particular.

Mark Oden said: ‘I am very excited by two aspects of the Workshop. Firstly the numbers, which are excellent, given we do not advertise and people can only hear about it by word of mouth.

‘Secondly, by the low average age of those men who have signed up already. We hope they will return to their churches having been sharpened in their Bible teaching, thus being better able to teach the next generation.’
