The Archbishop of Canterbury is reported in the press to urge Christians to repent about their homophobia. A detailed report appeared in the Daily Telegraph on August 29.
I am a Christian who has mercifully been preserved from scandalous sin, but nevertheless I constantly repent and repent deeply about sins of omission and many other sins. But in this instance I have nothing to repent of because I have never persecuted homosexuals. I am sorry to observe that the increasingly powerful homosexual lobby is promoting a campaign against all those who refuse to acclaim their lifestyle. Even though they are only 1% (they claim to be 6%) of the population, they control most of the media.
I read carefully the text of the speech by Archbishop Justin Welby at the Evangelical Alliance. He expressed deep concern that the vast majority of young people see Christians as homophobic. The reason for that is that a whole new generation has imbibed postmodern philosophy which is governed by the idea that there are no moral absolutes and that human reason is the measure of all things and also that if a thing feels right it must be right. The Bible is at loggerheads with postmodernism. On behalf of the majority of the younger generation, the archbishop should write a letter of appeal to the three persons of the Holy Trinity and request a new version of Holy Scripture.
In the up-to-date ‘with it’ version, the episode describing fire from heaven upon Sodom and Gomorrah must be deleted. Also the narrative at the conclusion of the book of Judges (cf. Judges 19.22) must be omitted. Moreover the three persons of the Trinity should be asked to apologise for imposing the death penalty for homosexual behaviour in the theocratic state of Israel (see Leviticus 20.13). The Triune Jehovah must be firmly requested to rearrange the letter to the Romans in order to remove Romans chapter one. They must be asked to delete 1 Corinthians 6.9, which states categorically that practising homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. This letter of appeal from the Archbishop to Almighty God will have the support of superior numbers of the young generation in the UK. Not only so it will be endorsed by the fallen angels.
