I totally agree with Mr Dowden of Swaffham re Scripture on notice boards (en letters December 2014). I have been saying this for years, including in my short book Taken as Read which received a good review in en.
We either have nothing on many notice boards or something rather cryptic, silly, and meaningless. Two examples I have seen were first, during Easter, a picture of a rose and the words ‘Jesus Rose’ and second, ‘Take your umbrella today, I might make it rain, signed God.’ One of the others I have seen bordered on the blasphemous.
One major problem is the few organisations that offer good, reasonably priced posters.
Come on Christians, let’s not be ashamed of putting gospel words on our notice boards, for as Mr Dowden reminded us from Hebrews 4.12: ‘For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart’.
