I appreciated the nuanced discussion in November’s en on gender issues and trans-gender rights, focusing as it did on both school and home life.
However, I felt three aspects were neglected or ignored entirely, to the detriment of a proper understanding of and engagement with them. Indeed, when they are factored in, the outcome is very different indeed.
First, from how I read it, the author seemed to assume that children could cope with the notion of ‘trans’ children (‘Jack today; Jane, tomorrow; Jason, the day after...’). However. we are hearing of children who are deeply traumatised by this notion. .
Secondly, this article does not appear to engage with the ideology which is being taught in increasing numbers of schools now: ‘Some boys have vaginas, some girls have penises’. This is not simply about accepting the odd (as in occasional) ‘trans’ child, but about what our own children are being brainwashed to believe is true, good and right: it is part of the school curriculum.
This does not in my view appear to be covered in bullet points like ‘We don’t fit in at school, or anywhere’ and ‘We can’t opt out’. How is a child supposed to counter this propaganda which is being embedded at the heart of school life? According to one LGBT schools organisation, Educate and Celebrate, they met with over 250,000 kids and adults in one year alone (and this was prior to Mrs May’s latest announcement on compulsory LGBT rights education from the age of four).
Thirdly, and most importantly, this article fails to understand how concretely, and indeed graphically, this lands for our children who must accept and embrace this ‘new normal’ or suffer for being ‘transphobic’. Do we really want our boys showering with girls who claim to be boys, and vice versa, regardless of anatomy and physiology? What madness is this? There appears to be no understanding of how this is tacit sexualisation of youngsters who have no choice but to ‘go along’ or suffer the consequences. Indeed, would we as adults like this treatment?
