Reading Bernard Palmer’s thoughtful arti-cle [‘Mysticism in the local church’ in the July issue of en], I could not but think of the saying, attributed I believe to Ronald Knox, that ‘Mysticism begins in Mist, is centred in I, and ends in Schism’.
