Dear Editor,
I would like to ask readers to pray for the Highbury Centre at 22-26 Aberdeen Park, London N5. Since 1893 it has been a place of welcome for missionaries and Christian friends from all over the world, who appreciated its Christian ethos.
I lived in Highbury for over 30 years, first as pastor of Highbury Baptist Church for 18 years, and then Barbara, my first wife, and I became wardens at the Foreign Missions Club (now the Highbury Centre) for around 11 years.
Sadly now with Covid-19 this beautiful centre which has been updated over the years is standing idle. Will it re-open? God knows. I know the manager, Sue Scalora and her staff and family are all praying about the future.
Many readers may have stayed there in the past. I am praying for it to continue and I ask your readers to do so too. It is unclear what lies ahead, but God is in control. He holds all ‘our times in His hands’ (Ps. 31:15).
Yours sincerely,
Joseph Hewitt
