Dear Editor,

It was good to read Ngaio Malcolm’s book recommendations for children in the June edition of en. Ngaio mentioned some old favourites of mine, such as Heidi and Treasures of the Snow, which drew me to Jesus myself as a child growing up in a non-Christian family.

I have ordered a copy of I am David, a book I haven’t come across before, to read along with my boys. I have learned the importance of accompanying my children on their reading journeys.

I must say, as a Christian, that Michael Morpurgo is not an author I like. My children and I have read some of his books and discussed them. However, I would question allowing Morpurgo to speak to a child unsupervised as he does often paint Christians and the truths of our faith in deceitful and negative ways while elevating other religions and worldviews.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Editor,

I have found the Christian Trailblazer Books are an interesting read. I hope this is of some help.

Yours sincerely,
