Scottish minister and writer, Alistair Begg, has retired after serving as Lead Pastor at Parkside Church in Ohio for more than 40 years.
Born in Glasgow, Begg went on to graduate from London School of Theology and entered pastoral ministry in 1975. He initially served in Scotland both at Charlotte Chapel in Edinburgh and Hamilton Baptist Church before moving to the US to join Parkside Church.
In 1995, Truth for Life, Begg’s teaching ministry was launched, bringing Bible teaching through radio and podcasts to listeners all over the world.
Begg’s retirement comes several months earlier than he originally planned when he announced last year that continuing as Lead Pastor until September 2025 would “give the church time to adjust to the prospect of, and to prepare in a timely way for, what this transition will mean.”
However, Begg’s advanced departure doesn’t seem related to the 73-year-old’s health, which Parkside says is “excellent” on the church website.
While he may be stepping back from church leadership, Begg will continue work with Truth for Life and keep up an active speaking schedule.
