This little book of daily devotions is primarily a study of Psalm 119 subdivided into smaller sections.
As this does not fill a month, some other portions of the Bible are examined to make it up to 31 days of readings.
The writer is very faithful and true to the biblical text. However, she uses the King James Version as her base, which for me was not helpful. She also references the Heidelberg Catechism fairly often. This reinforced the feeling that she came from a different culture, although it was enriching.
Occasionally the tone felt a little preachy or severe. Also, after nearly a month of Psalm 119, I felt I was being fed an extremely rich meal, but spread over days and days and I began to feel hungry for a bit more variety. I do not mean to sound so negative. It is a good little book with good, in-depth reflection. I would recommend it, but possibly with the proviso that you use other readings from the Bible to help you digest it more easily.
