Alpha International, which runs the well-known “Alpha course” to help people explore Christianity, is celebrating its most successful year since it started in 1977.
Last year, more than 2 million people across the world learned about the gospel through more than 80,000 Alpha courses hosted in 146 countries worldwide.
The record-breaking year for Alpha signals the growing interest in Christianity among young people. In November, Alpha launched its Alpha Youth Series, which attracted more than 250,000 people in a few months, and more than a third of total Alpha participants in 2024 were under 25.
“They’re bringing questions about loneliness and mental health challenges,” said Miles Toulmin, CEO of Alpha International, regarding the younger generation joining the programme. “They’re asking: ‘Is there more to life than just the tangible, and how can I fulfil that yearning in my soul?’”
