Dear Editor,

I wanted to thank Esme for her article in the November edition of en, concerning the pressure that teenagers face with social media bombarding young people 24/7. I found the article very true and informative and gives one fuel for prayer for our young people today.

I agree with Esme that great pressure to compromise one’s faith and increasing the feeling of isolation so to be accepted and not to offend others is increasing today in the media world. I see this occurring with the BBC pushing the LGBTQ+ agenda on their programmes such as Radio 4 Saturday Live and the popular ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ with a same-sex couple taking part for the first time in the programme’s history.

We shouldn’t be taken by surprise because the words from the Bible warn us to be prepared for such things occurring in the last days, such as Paul’s words to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3.1-5. To end on a positive point, I also think that the social media provides great potential and opportunities for good which we have seen over the last few months during the pandemic.

Yours sincerely.
